Anna Faris Shares How Son Jack Pushes Her Out of Her Comfort Zone, Reflects on Life After L.A. Wildfires

Actress Anna Faris is opening up about the powerful influence her 12-year-old son, Jack, has on her life — pushing her to embrace new experiences and face her fears, even in the face of adversity.

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Faris, 48, discussed how Jack encourages her to step out of her comfort zone, particularly when it comes to thrilling activities like roller coasters and water slides. “I am really proud that I will go on any roller coaster or any water slide,” she shared, speaking about her new campaign with Walmart, which promotes the retailer’s Express Delivery option for health and wellness services.

“My love for my son has pushed me to step out of my comfort zone so many times,” Faris continued. “I’m really proud of that, and I love it that he can count on me and I know that he sees that.”

Faris, who shares Jack with ex-husband Chris Pratt and two stepchildren with her current husband Michael Barrett, emphasized how deeply her love for her son shapes her life, making her embrace even the most terrifying challenges.

However, it’s the resilience of her family in the wake of the devastating January 2025 L.A. wildfires that truly reflects the depth of her bond with Jack. Faris and her family lost their $5 million home in the Pacific Palisades to the fire, part of a series of wildfires that destroyed over 10,000 structures and killed at least 10 people in the greater Los Angeles area.

Reflecting on the loss, Faris described the surreal experience of having to evacuate. “It’s still surreal,” she told Us Weekly. “We are going to rebuild. It will be a process … I do anticipate in a year from now, it won’t be top of mind of course, but obviously it will still be something that we’re dealing with.”

Despite the emotional toll of losing her home and cherished belongings, Faris expressed gratitude for the things she still has. “I hope that doesn’t sound too smarmy, but that is kind of the feeling that I’m left with — this feeling of, I just feel so fortunate,” she said.

Describing the moments leading up to the evacuation, Faris recalled walking past treasured items she was unable to take with her. “As I was leaving with Jack, I walked past my favorite boots, my grandfather’s painting, a big stack of pictures that I had been organizing… it turns out, I’m really bad in an emergency.”

The loss of her “sentimental memories” was undeniably difficult, but it also made Faris more appreciative of the things she has and the support she receives from her family. “We’re doing great. We are going to rebuild,” she said. “The kids are really excited about that. They’re all really looking forward to that.”

Through it all, Faris remains focused on the love and gratitude she feels for her family, and her unwavering commitment to giving her son, Jack, a life filled with adventure and strength.
